Artwork and art installation inspired by ‘The lion the witch and the wardrobe’ (c.s. Lewis)
Take a walk through Narnia as you browse the artworks and art installation I made for my illustration graduation show in 2001 inspired by ‘the lion the witch and the Wardrobe’, written by C.s. lewis.
Immersive walk through Narnia
When I was twenty-one, finishing my BA Illustration degree at the University of Westminster, I decided to create Narnia in a small boiler cupboard I found in a studio. I painted the entire thing, made a life-size wardrobe to fit over the door frame (of course with furs and wellies to push past). I used shed roofing and insulation material to make a path and snow. I made interactive models of Mr. Tumnus and the beavers house. I made a life-size White Witch puppet who sat in her icy domain. The crowning glory was the bronze Aslan mask I sculpted out of clay and cast in bronze resin, who welcomed guests into the space and provided a magical, golden glow.
Private view guests entered Narnia with their beers (well, those who found it) and then never left! The room was left untouched for many years…a little bit of hidden magic and joy.
