Africa | Gambia

I have travelled to a number of different countries in Africa – with different flavours and cultures: Gambia, Morocco, Tunisia, Zanzibar and the Canary Islands.

I had my own Gaugin experience which changed my art forever when I visited Gambia. Suddenly a shot of colour, life and expression came to my work (and also thanks to a constructive criticism from a university tutor, who taught me about warm and cool colours and introduced me to monoprinting, which loosened up my style.)

I now paint and sketch recalling how I *felt* about the colours and scene as well as how they literally were.
