I have sketched and painted the Southbank for around 20 years and I’ve seen a lot of change in that time. Buildings coming down, repaired, and major additions such as the Shard!
There’s always something to see along the Southbank; a busker, a market, an event, some filming, the bridge going up and down…
I love working in Monoprint. I have a particular process – first I do my sketch onsite, then I use a roller to add rough shapes of the layout in coloured printing inks. I then wait for this to dry, then do a line monoprint on top of this.
I then add mixed media to the artwork – acrylic paint, neo-colour crayons, glitter glue, tippex…my motto is if it sticks, I’ll use it!
I love that piece!
